Last week Infinuendo’s CTO Clifford Heath presented at the Data Modeling Zone Australia conference on the topic of “How to talk to “The Business” about Modeling”.
Here is the abstract of the talk:
Most modelling languages are effective for communicating only with people who have been trained how to read them and to interpret the details. However, fact-based languages (like Object Role Modeling) are deeply rooted in natural speech, and can be used directly with untrained business personnel. This radically changes the business dialogue and improves communication. The attendee will learn how to capture important semantics and the rationale behind modelling decisions, making use of advances in controlled natural languages (like SBVR and the Constellation Query Language) to precisely record and encode business rules, using the same natural verbalisation patterns.
